About Sea Synergy:
Founded in 2014 by Waterville local and marine biologist Lucy Hunt, award winning Sea Synergy is a Marine Awareness and Activity Center that offers a variety of meaningful activities, workshops, and adventures that empower all ages. Sea Synergy’s immersive experiences in the Skellig Coast’s rich local heritage and environment allow our clients to fully experience what Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way has to offer.
Guided tours and adventures are provided by marine biologists and specialists to facilitate a greater connection to nature and the local area. We have a variety of fun and educational workshops and activities such as Seashore Safaris, guided snorkeling, guided stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking, boat tours, village heritage walks, island visits, and mindfulness in nature meditations, which are open to all ages and aim to give participants a closer connection to nature.
Our Mission is to create meaningful experiences in nature for individuals or groups which are tailored to their needs and enable them to discover the rich diversity of Ireland’s environment and Wild Atlantic Way in a fun and memorable way.

Sea Synergy is seeking caring, passionate, committed individuals to join our team in Waterville. In the role of Education & Activities Officer, individuals will assist in introducing clients of all ages to local flora, fauna, and natural heritage. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to share their passion for nature and conservation by connecting people with nature and instill in them a desire to protect it.

- Degree in a relevant subject (BA/BSc in biology, ecology, marine biology, or related field) or equivalent experience in conservation or a related field
- Previous experience working in environmental education
- Previous experience teaching/coaching certificate in kayak, SUP, or other water sports
- Previous experience working with children
- Demonstrable qualities and skills necessary to collaborate effectively and with people at all levels
- Be highly organised and self-reliant yet a good team player, responsive to the needs of colleagues
- Confident working in groups / previous experience in volunteer work
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Previous experience in public speaking
- Life saving and Advanced First Aid skills
- Ability to work long hours outdoors in variable weather
- Computer skills
- Social media experience
- Full Drivers Licence

The Education & Activities Officer will be required to undertake the following tasks:
Weekly:
- Deliver Explorer’s Education Programme within Kerry Primary Schools
- Develop lesson plans and materials for schools
- Schedule public and school engagement activities and visits
- Lead activities
- Equipment maintenance
- Weekly team meetings
- Allocating tasks for interns
- Promotion of activities
- Aquarium care
Monthly:
- Check gear for wear and tear
- Aquaria care
Pre-Season:
- ASI Certificate application
- Advise on promotional materials required
- Check First aid kits and ensure all fully stocked and up to date
- Liability forms updated and printed
- Thorough check of all water sports and seashore gear – maintenance and repairs or replacements to be ordered
- Marketing for all upcoming events to be prepared
Post-Season:
- Thorough check on all water sports gear and seashore equipment, all gear to be stored safely in the trailer
- Report and Recommendations for next season
Yearly:
- Offer support or assist in organising local initiatives such as surveys, beach cleans/Clean Coasts, Tidy Towns, and Iveragh Learning Landscapes

The payment of salary, travel and any other matters relating to the financial administration of the post will be the responsibility of Sea Synergy Ltd.
The Education & Activities Officer will report to Sea Synergy Ltd. founder Lucy Hunt and the Education & Activities Operations Manager.
The salary for this position is €11.5/hour based on a 40 hour working week. Start as soon as possible.
Any work travel undertaken by the Education & Activities Officer will be paid at approved Sea Synergy Ltd. rates.

- Change aquarium water

- Reprint of any promotional materials required
- Check First aid kits and ensure all fully stocked and up to date
- Liability forms updated and printed
- Thorough check of all water sports and seashore gear – maintenance and repairs or replacements to be ordered
- Marketing for all upcoming events to be prepared
Post-Season:
- Thorough check on all water sports gear and seashore equipment, all gear to be stored safely in the trailer
Yearly:
- Offer support or assist in organising local initiatives such as beach cleans/Clean Coasts, Tidy Towns, and Iveragh Learning Landscapes
