Keep your friends close and your anemones closer
By Ashling Murray
I am delighted to have joined the Sea Synergy team this summer as a marketing intern. Waterville is a great spot with Lough Currane on one side and the stunning Ballinskelligs Bay on the other. I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to apply my passion for Ireland and the ocean to my business career in marketing. The best part of my job is being able to connect with people of all ages about Irish marine life and the sea and educating people about the importance of protecting our oceans. The job has also allowed me to spend a lot of time outside enjoying nature and I have learned something new every day.
My time in Waterville has been filled with endless adventure. I had the best day ever out on the boat to Skellig Michael. It was amazing to see the unique landscape filled with puffins and beehive-shaped huts that once belonged to monks.
I have also spent my time kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and enjoying a 99 ice cream every day on the prom. I will miss all of the lovely people I have met on my journey and hope to be back in Waterville again soon!
